An early brief snorkel - Lizzie Allen

It is time to get in the water again & yes it is cold but beautifully clear.

What a surprise to find 9 Baked Bean Anemones [Phlyctenactis tuberculosa] in one small area where I have previously seen only 1 or 2.

They are also known as Wandering or Swimming Anemones. They actually move from side to side with the tides rather than swimming, feeding at night (which is why I haven’t seen one with its tentacles fully open) & attach themselves to seaweed or a crevice during the day.
