Strange reptiles

Part of the

Atlas Fire Recovery Project

2020

An unexpected outcome from the fires is that we may get a glimpse of species otherwise rarely seen. This is particularly true for small, secretive reptiles. For example, many grassland and swampland species inhabit tussocks and retreat quickly into cover. So keep an eye out, take a photo - or three! - and upload your sightings to NatureMapr. Our expert moderators will help with identification.

The links below show the current NatureMapr species lists for our region

You may be able to identify your own sighting from the lists above. Or you may have seen a species not yet on our lists. Either way, please add your sighting to NatureMapr

Here’s how to record your sightings to NatureMapr using the App. This is great for uploading photos taken on a phone. Alternatively, you can upload via a web browser - here’s a step-by-step guide.
