Weedy seadragons death mystery

May 7th 2022. There are many reports of Weedy seadragons washing up on NSW and SA beaches. Our long time colleague and supporte Prof David Booth is asking if everyone in our area can look out for any Weedy seadragons on the beaches. They have been found from Newcastle to Woollongong and along the South Australia coast, and no-one yet knows the reason for this.

If you do see them please take high res. images and include something for scale( a coin or a biro) and add your sighting to iNaturalist. If they are very freshly dead like the ones shown, scientists may recognise the patternings from individuals they have previously researched.
