Looking and Learning

In this event which is part of the ongoing Life in our Cemeteries programme we will be exploring the small but precious Wonboyn Cemetery. The Wonboyn Cemetery is a jewel with 18 different native orchids sighted and documented in the last 12 years, heavily hit by the bush fires it is recovering and is a delight to visit. Botanist Jackie Miles will lead a ‘walk and talk’ to indicate and record the plants of the cemetery and local historian, Fiona Firth will speak on the history of the cemetery. Glenda Woods will give a talk on the local orchids and Anna Lindstrand from Potoroo Palace will talk about the work of Potoroo Palace and also the recovery of native animals after the bushfires.

 Featuring:

  • Jackie Miles led plant survey and plant species discussion

  • Glenda Wood will give a talk on local orchids

  • Anna Lindstrand will talk about the work of Potoroo Palace and also the recovery of native animals after the bushfires.

This is one in a series of events to be held at each of the Cemeteries in the Bega valley in the coming years, this project is an initiative of Atlas of Life in the Coastal Wilderness in conjunction with Bega Valley Council.
