We were blessed to have had a special relationship over many years with Professor Joe Baker, an eminent and most respected scientist, founding Director of the Australian Institute for Marine Science, instrumental in helping to get the Great Barrier Reef established as a Marine Park and a former Chief Scientist of Queensland.

Joe was a long time friend of our citizen science work in this area, as the Patron of the Sapphire Coast Marine Society, a speaker at our “Celebration of the History of Science in our region” and as a mentor and friend to Libby Hepburn in her work to nurture interest in our natural world through the Atlas of Life and in setting up the Australian Citizen Science Association.

So please join us for the book launch in Merimbula, learn a little more about this amazing yet humble scientist, and also about Angelika’s journey to tell his story.
