Local mycologist honoured with new species

A recent publication describes several new species of myxomycetes … including one named in honour of Teresa Van Der Heul. Anyone who has been walking the rainforest with Teresa and John will appreciate their painstaking attention to detail. And it is just this kind of observation that pays off.

“We are very excited about this as it is our second new species of myxomycetes for this area”, Teresa said today.

This brand new species is the latest addition to our local species list on the NatureMapr database. Take a look at the wonderful photographs taken by Teresa & John Van Der Heul.
