Bioluminescence adds wow factor to the Candelo Village Festival
An amazing three days at the Candelo Village Festival were capped off with a spectacular light and sound experience under the Candelo bridge.
The installation was designed and performed by a talented group of young people from the Bega Valley under the watchful eyes of our facilitators including Scott Baker.
The team underwent 2 days of workshops, and on Saturday, once the hi-vis vests were on, the young crew swung into action working video, animations and live sound from two operations positions under the Candelo bridge, presenting the video that they shot from the creek two days earlier and then edited into a kaleidoscopic riot of colour and light.
The soundscapes were made from field recordings of the festival that they manipulated live on the iPads playing out of bluetooth speakers hidden in the bushes.
The audience were spellbound and full of questions keeping the crew busy answering them.
It was a group effort, and we thank Navigate Arts of Tanja for technical support, thanks for facilitation support from Cat Wilson, media & publicity from Lisa Herbert, as well as a big thanks to the parents that drove the crew vast distances, including a special pizza delivery for dinner.
The Candelo Arts Society, festival volunteers and co-ordinators were welcoming and generous with their support and assistance.
Thanks to our sponsors the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation and Anglicare NSW Bushfire Recovery and our partners the Atlas of Life.
Finally thanks to these young people for giving up the last days of their holidays to come and immerse themselves in nature, develop their tech skills and put on a show for the community!
