Guidelines

The Sapphire Coast Sea Slug Census involves recording photos of each species of seaslug you find on the coast (Eden - Bateman’s Bay) during the census period (12 - 20th  of January 2019).

  1. Please register your participation below

  2. Send in photos of each species of sea slug you encounter during the census period. If you think you may have found two species that look very similar send in photos of both individuals.

  3. You don’t need to identify the nudis, just take their photos!

  4. Photos must be taken on the South Coast of NSW (Green Cape to Bateman’s Bay) during the period 12 - 20th January 2019.

  5. Photos should be cropped around the sea slug and either added to our Atlas of Life: Coastal Wilderness database (you may need to register), or submitted by email to libby@atlasoflife.org.au

All rock pool and shore surveys except those organised by the Atlas of Life and the Nature Coast Marine Group, are to be organised by participants and undertaken at their own risk. All snorkelling activities are to be organised by participants and undertaken at their own risk.  All diving activities are to be organised by participants and are undertaken at their own risk. 

Snorkeler and shore-based Participant statement

  1. I take responsibility for organising and planning my own surveys for sea slugs.

  2. I understand that all shore searches, except those organised by the Atlas of Life and the Nature Coast Marine Group, are undertaken at my own risk and no responsibility is taken by the Atlas of Life Sea Slug Census organisers for those independent searches.

  3. I understand and state that I am physically and mentally capable to safely participate in coastal shore surveys, whether rocky shores or estuarine.

  4. I have clearly read and fully understand the contents of all of the above points contained in this participant statement. 

Diver Statement

  1. I take responsibility for organising and planning my own dives.

  2. I understand that all diving activity is to be undertaken at my own risk and no responsibility is taken by the Atlas of Life Sea Slug Census organisers.

  3. I understand and state that I am physically and mentally capable and trained to successfully participate in open sea condition diving.

  4. I have clearly read and fully understand the contents of all of the above points contained in this diver statement.
