BioBlitz events are sigificant surveys of flora and fauna in a specific region, and for a specific purpose. They involve people of all ages and with varying level of expertise – ecologists, experienced naturalists, and keen novices alike.
Since its inception in 2012, the Atlas of Life has regularly coordinated local Bioblitz'. The event-management experience gained by the team has been shared nationally and internationally through our involvement with a range of organisations, including the Australian Citizen Science Association. Of particular note, Libby Hepburn has been instrumental in establishing the Australian Bioblitz Hub and in developing resources to assist other groups interested in conducting successful Bioblitz events.
